Review | Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Faithful

I purchased Illamasqua Nail Varnish in the shade Faithful in the January sale (click here to view post). It's such a great colour and cost me only £5 in the sale.

Nail Varnish in Faithful
Source: Illamasqua
PRICE: The normal price of this Nail Varnish is definately not student loan friendly - at £14.50 I would have never purchased it, however on sale it was £5, although still arguably expensive I had received some Christmas money the month before.

COLOUR: The colour is really pretty, but natural. It has a slight glitter/metallic finish and I feel it could be worn all year round. I also always feel browns are versatile with most outfits.

NEGATIVES: This product definately needs two or three coats - which is standard however at a value of £14.50 I'd hoped for something a bit more "wow".

Retro inspired outfit: We Can Do It!

My parents recently went to Camden and bought me this lovely Rosie the Riveter t-shirt so I thought I'd put it in an outfit and show you. I coudn't find the exact on online and I can't tell you how much it was as it was a gift however if you search "Rosie the Riveter T-shirt" in Google, quite a few results appear.

Lets talk Feminism ... Made In Dagenham and Equal Pay

Made in Dagenham was recently shown on BBC (click here to watch) and also I am writing about it in my Representing the Past in Film module and therefore I really wanted to share it with you.
The film is a really great (hence why I chose it for my essay) feel good film and the costumes are divine too however I'm no film critic all I can say is that I enjoyed it - especially from a historians perspective as well as a feminist - and would recommend it to anyone.

WHAT HAPPENED?
In 1968 there were 187 women working as sewing machinists in the Dagenham Ford Plant and their work for their own equal pay and grading changed British Industry forever. They did not realise just the impact they would have - originally it was a dispute about the new grading system grading (1967) the women at Grade B (less skilled production jobs) however when the women found out that the night shift male workers (doing the same job) were graded at Grace C (more skilled production jobs) it turned into an Equal Pay dispute.

Outfit | Flamingos

So I recently bought this fabulous flamingo top from Primark for just £5! I wore it today with a simple black skirt and black Vans (which are so fab they will have a post of their own very shortly).

I also wore a lilac crochet jumper that I bought from a recent Vintage Kilo sale for about £4.

Etsy: "Saint Prayer Candles" with a twist

I recently stumbled upon these awesome candles on etsy sold by the shop GreaserCreatures.

There are so many to chose from, including Bettie Page, Dolly Parton and Darth Vader,  and would make great gifts!

My personal favourites have to be "Saint Dita Von Teese", "Saint Morrissey" and "Saint Gomez and Morticia Addams

Outfit | Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day - I'm not Irish or Catholic myself but I thought I'd throw on my green jumper and wear his awesome emerald/pearl necklace which kind of fits with the green theme!

Review | Naked Body Care Rescue Intensive Care Shampoo/Conditioner

I recently discover the Brand Naked Body Care when hunting for a shampoo/conditioner that would sort my awful hair out. I'd ruined my hair through the usual dying and back-combing and it was starting to go into one big mass of knots and so I picked up the Naked Rescue Intensive Care Shampoo and Conditioner - on offer in Boots for 2 for £6.

DIY | Eyebrow brush

I've noticed that a lot of brands are selling "Eyebrow Brushes" and I truly believe this is utter bollocks and something you can actually get for free!

To name a few:

Tweezerman for Benefit's Brow shaping Brush - £9.50
Real Techniques Your Eyes/Enhanced Lash-Brow Groomer - £5.94
Laura Mercier Brow Grooming Brush - £10.50

I'd much rather not pay £10 to groom my eyebrows thanks I'd rather spend it on 2 bottles of Pinot Grigio. However I can still have "well groomed" eyebrows for free!

York Castle Museum

Pictures from my recent visit to York Castle Museum in York. I really love York Castle Museum, it gives a real "feel" of the past as you literally look into the windows of old shops and living rooms. It's really great for those who love history as well as those who have had no previous interest, children can learn a lot and your grandparents can have a great day telling you about "the olden days".

My boyfriend and I were a bit scared when I saw the bedroom full of toys we had as children - he's 21 and I'm 18 and we're both not quite ready to be in a museum yet thank you very much York Castle!

York in Pictures

On Friday I went to York and I had a lovely day so I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took. I visited the York Castle Museum, the Jorvic Centre and the Yorkshire Museum as well as having a good wander around York itself. York is such a lovely place for a day out and the weather was great so I managed to take some great pictures.
